Hmm... it is not necessary to use pink color -
You can use skins with transparent background (*.png).
Just when you save it - rename file extension to *.bmp.
Additional information
PNG format uses compression and therefore file size of *.png will be smaller than *.bmp file.
This is would be useful if you include skin in your transferlist.
And more - HUD skins(like *_k.bmp and others) have non-standard colors.

your _d skin - is just resize of _m skin
- and so edges of skin is pink
greasedclown, man, you did NOT used magenta. Your background colour is (255,0,234). Also try to use Paint.NET. I have no problems with this program. Use BMP format.

Edit: Still wont work. Ill just give up and work on a different skin then.
